1927 Norton Model 25.

A rare and seldom seen Norton Model 25 to be sold on behalf of its owner. The Model 25 was essentially a copy of the 1926 Norton Works bikes and produced for the public in 1927. This particular Model 25 was shipped new to Italy by importer ‘Mototecnica’ in 1927 and was fitted with the extra large TT pannier tanks from new.

The frame and engine numbers have been confirmed as correct and a matching pair.

The Model 25 was the first Norton to incorporate a build in mechanical oil pump. Other notable features are the extra-large TT pannier tanks, the extra-large capacity oil tank, the heavy weight Webb girder fork and the wraparound lug on the front downtube for the magneto support, all specific to the Model 25.

The Model 25 was restored over a period of more than two years by a very experienced and respected restorer in the UK. The entire restoration project is completely documented and involved sourcing correct parts from several countries in Europe and abroad. The TT pannier tanks were fabricated in the UK from a wooden mould, made from 3D scans of an original pair of pannier tanks exhibited in the Brooklands Museum. The Sturmey Archer clutch was renovated in the Czech Republic, the B&B carb renovated by Martin Bratby, Wheels build by Central Wheel, etc. No corners were cut. The original crankcase half with the original engine number stamping is displayed next to the bike, as it was deemed unsafe to use it for running. A blank NOS crankcase half was used instead (with the original kept along the bike). 

The Model 25 is now better than new, inside and out, and goes like the clappers.
