1931 Sunbeam Model 9. 500cc OHV
1931 Sunbeam Model 9. 500cc OHV
A lovely 1931 Sunbeam Model 9 in very good condition and order throughout. This is not a show condition Sunbeam, but it is indeed very presentable. I would term it as a very good and honest riders bike that could be used for show. It will certainly turn heads wherever you go. Sunbeams are some of the best engineered vintage bikes, and demand obvious attention.
A dating certificate from Sunbeam Motor Cycle Club confirms 1931 manufacture and matching numbers for frame and engine for this Twin Port Model 9.
Mechanically the Sunbeam is sorted and ready to go. Recent engine work include new valves and pushrods as supplied by Chris Odling, new magneto drive sprocket and magneto chain and various other little jobs such as new copper washers for the twin port exhaust port. Invoices included.
Lights are fitted and wired but the magdyno is blanked off by a metal plate (dynamo not included). Most likely The Sunbeam has been used for daytime running only.
Paint and chrome in good condition, a few stains and carbon deposits on the underside of the exhaust pipe and silencers. It will clean up nicely.
The rear chain guard could benefit from filler and fresh paint and the rocker box cover could do with fresh plating, to match the quality of the rest of the bike, but it is not strictly necessary. The Sunbeam presents beautifully as it is.
The Sunbeam is ready to be enjoyed on the road and will easily keep up with modern traffic.
