1937 BSA Empire Star. 500cc OHV
1937 BSA Empire Star. 500cc OHV
This is a lovely 1937 BSA Empire Star fitted with the optional two port head and upswept exhaust pipes. Confirmed matching numbers and first dispatched to BSA Copenhagen on the 28th of April 1937.
The Empire Star was the fastest OHV single on offer from BSA in 1937, the year before the introduction of the Gold Star which would be the direct heir to the Empire Star.
This Empire Star was subject to a correct, quality restoration in the mid 1990s and has not seen much use since. The speedo reads 3188 kms and it is very likely this is the distance travelled since restoration. The original BSA levers are there, the special oil tank with cutaway for the high-level exhaust pipe is there, correct toolboxes with original dealer plate fixed to it, correct mudguards, correct petrol tank panel with Lucas ammeter and light switch.
The Empire Star will start first kick. Very good compression and a perfect idle once the engine is warmed through. Everything feels tight. The gears select freely and smoothly.
In short, this is a lovely Empire Star that is ready to be enjoyed for on the road. There is an original registration document from 1946 coming with the BSA.
The Empire Star is registered on EU registration documents.
