1938 Vincent HRD TT replica
1938 Vincent HRD TT replica
This magnificent Vincent HRD Series A TT replica was build in the early 2000s to replicate the original 1938 Vincent HRD works bike ridden by Ginger Woods. Apart from the exhaust system and the ultra-rare Burman racing gearbox in magnesium fitted to the original bike, it is a very exact build. The Vincent HRD was purchased as an incomplete project prior to restoration and the build comprises both new and original Series A parts.
The RFM is from a 1939 Comet and still has its original brown logbook.
The Brampton front fork is an original Vincent Series A fork refurbished by Ray Daniels in the UK.
The gearbox is an original Burman gearbox from a Series A Rapide.
The engine is a mix of original parts and new items. Beautiful cast bronze heads are fitted. A noted Series A Specialist in the UK did all of the engine work.
The special large capacity petrol tank and oil tank was fabricated by Terry Hall in the UK.
The Vincent HRD is fully sorted and goes very well. It is surprisingly easy to kick start on the rear stand.
The TT replica is truly a quality build with much time, effort and money spend using many specialists in the UK. The sound of the engine and the exhaust note has got to be experienced live to be fully appreciated. A true beast for the road.
Only 78 Series A Rapides were build in period. A carefull guess is that 2-3 dozen replicas have since been build. Any Series A Rapide is a rare bird indeed.
The Vincent HRD is registered for the road on a modern UK V5 together with all EU import taxes paid on entry into EU.
