1938 Velocette MSS

Incredibly original and unmolested: a 1938 Velocette MSS with very few owners and one family owner from 1949-2004: the Velocette was in continuous use, albeit sparingly, from 1949-1975. This is backed up by old tax discs and the original brown logbook. The Velo was then dry stored from 1975 until 2004 when it was sold by the son of the long-term owner and put back in to service.

The original brown log book confirms matching numbers for frame and engine.

The Velocette MSS was featured in a 5 page article in The Classic Bike in 2004, a copy of the article comes with the bike. Included is also a cover feature from Fishtail, the Velocette Owners Club magazine, on this particular MSS. An original Velocette Instruction book is also included together with old tax discs and the original brown logbook.

The Velocette has always been well maintained, never restored, just carefully tended to. Once you master the technique of starting a Velocette, this MSS is a first kick starter. The engine and gearbox are superb, don’t let the patina fool you: this is a very smooth engine with very good compression. The gearchange is tight and precise. The kickstart shaft has zero play. The fishtail silencer has a lovely sound.

A modern LED bulb is fitted in the original 8inch Miller headlamp for brighter lighting. The original Miller rear lamp is also mounted.

The petrol tank was sealed with a good quality tank sealer a couple of years back and looks pristine inside.

Here is the chance to own a roadworthy, original condition pre-war Velocette MSS. There cannot be many around in this beautiful condition, cosmetically as well as mechanically.
