Here is a lovely example of the Beck 550 Spyder. The history of the original 550 Spyder is well known with numerous celebrity owners in period, most notably the actor James Dean. Unfortunately, today the rarity of the original 550 Spyder is also well known with just 90 examples produced between 1953-1956.

As a result, many tributes have been produced over the years and one of the premier exponents is the company ‘Beck’ based in the US.

With a body constructed from hand laminated fiberglass and attached to a tubular chassis, the Beck 550 Spyder is both firm and agile, much like the original car.

This particular 550 Spyder was produced by Beck in 2005 and spend almost 10 years with its previous owner in Virginia. The car was then exported to Europe in 2016 and has had two owners since.

Power is delivered from an air-cooled 1.6Litre Volkswagen engine breathing through dual Weber twin port carburetors. Power is immediate and very similar in feel to the original 1.5Litre 4-cylinder boxer engine of the 550 Spyder.

Disc brakes front and back ensure the Spyder will also stop when the power range and tractability is being explored.

The red leather interior is in impeccable condition and matches the silver paint exterior and dashboard of the car perfectly.

In the last 9 years the car has travelled a mere 1400km. The speedo reads 3350km.

The 550 Spyder currently forms part of a collection of classic and vintage cars, has been serviced and is very much on the button.

Comes with US Certificate of Title and is registered as a 1955 model.

All emblems are next to the car and will attach easily.
