1956 Ariel HS 500. 500c OHV
1956 Ariel HS 500. 500c OHV
A beautiful and rare Ariel HS, the competition version of the Red Hunter, produced between 1954-1958 only (HS stood for Hunter Scrambler). They were intended to compete against BSA Gold Stars on the track, and were indeed powerful, purpose built bikes in their day.
The HS had sportier cams, stronger valve springs, higher compression and other trick features giving approximately 34HP at 6,000RPM
Advertised in period as ”proven in competition…super-tuned for the cross country racing enthusiast, easily convertible to a fine sports type road motorcycle. High performance engine has alloy cylinder barrel, high compression head and piston, and polished internals…a powerhouse on wheels!”
This lovely example has all correct numbers and was restored a number of years ago. Still in beautiful condition, it just needs fresh petrol to get it running again
The Ariel HS comes with copies of the original registration documents from 1956.
An original, low slung exhaust pipe with original rose nut and a Burgess silencer in good condition comes with the bike.
Registered for the road with current EU registration document.
