The 450S was introduced in 1954 with a brand new and more powerful 4.5Litre V8 engine, yet shelved shortly after its introduction due to the major crash at Le Mans in 1955 killing 83 spectators.

In 1956 development of the 450S continued with a few racing successes but in 1957 it was decided at Maserati to withdraw from racing entirely. Only 9 examples of the 450S were ever produced by Maserati.

This particular Maserati 450S was build by ex. Maserati racer, Nestor Salerno in 1967 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. More info on Nestor and his work can be found online.

The Maserati was build using traditional methods and to original specification: a tubular chassis with full alloy bodywork including an all alloy petrol tank with riveted reinforcements.

The engine and gearbox is original Maserati: a superb 4.5Litre V8 breathing through 4 twin Weber carburetors. The original engine punches out nearly 400HP and with a weight of 800kgs, will take the Maserati to a top speed north of 250km/h.

The Maserati 450S comes with a Dutch registration from 2015 + an older US registration document.

The car is ready to be used on the road or track and was last used for parading at the 2024 Copenhagen Classic Grand Prix. The Maserati has been in the collection of one enthusiast owner since 2015 and always service by his own workshop.
