1970 Velocette Thruxton
1970 Velocette Thruxton
Here is a lovely and unique Thruxton from 1970, the last year of production (this specific Thruxton is one of the last 40 produced).
Correct and confirmed matching numbers for engine, frame and gearbox.
One owner from 1971 to present.
All paint, gold pinstripe, decals and chrome are original. Only the rear mudguard was repainted sometime in the past. The patina is
Original Amal Concentric carb fitted. Original Dunlop alloy rims. Original seat fitted (hump twin racing seat also available and comes with the bike).
Earlier Smiths clocks fitted in period as they looked better. Exact mileage is not known but the bike is very well kept mechanically and has been used regularly in the summer over the years.
An Alton electric starter was fitted 6 years ago and works faultlessly. The dynamo fitted (also Alton) gives plenty of output so the Alton starter works “on the button”.
Combined with the original Concentric carb, the Thruxton is easy to start and sets in to a pleasant idle straight away. You cannot find a more casual way of starting what is essentially a beast for the road.
All in all, this is a very useable, well maintained and highly original specimen of the iconic Velocette Thruxton with the added bonus of an Alton electric start.
Please get in touch for more info, photos and a video of the bike starting and running from cold.
